Albéniz Isaac - PIEZAS CELEBRES - Jose D´Aragon
Isaac Albéniz (1860–1909) was a brilliant Spanish pianist and composer. He is celebrated as one of the most important figures of the Post-Romantic era and a leader of the Spanish nationalist school of music.
Even if you don't recognize his name, you have almost certainly heard his music. Here is a snapshot of what makes him so fascinating:
1. The Child Prodigy who Ran Away
Born in Catalonia, Spain, Albéniz was a musical prodigy who gave his first public piano performance at just four years old. He had an incredibly adventurous spirit; legend has it that by the time he was 12, he had run away from home multiple times, even stowing away on a ship to Argentina and supporting himself by playing concerts! While historians debate how much of this was exaggerated, it perfectly captures his wild, romantic personality.
2. The Guitar Hero (Who Didn't Play Guitar)
This is the ultimate plot twist of Albéniz’s career: he never wrote a single piece for the guitar. He was strictly a pianist.
